Catron introduced Stan Livengood, a grant manager at the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission, who will help with the grant process. Livengood said that public participation at meetings was essential.
After the meeting adjourned, Livengood explained that public involvement was required in the grant process, because the federal government wanted to make sure the money was used for development the community wanted. Public meetings must be advertised in the paper, he said.
Williams and Catron said the committee thought that the survey and the meetings planned with the supervisors would satisfy the public meeting requirement.
After the plans for town improvements were presented, the public discussion began with truck traffic on Main Street.
