T, he holiday season has many lessons to teach. Most of us are pretty good at receiving gifts. After the wrappings have been torn off, we smile and say thank you. Heck, that’s easy. Some of us though — particularly the youngest among us— need to be reminded of that other Yuletide pleasure. So much energy is concentrated on “what will I get?” not enough, sometimes, on “what will I give?” Children of all ages benefit when, rather than taking their allowance to the stores, they create homemade gifts for the special people in their lives. It might be messier, and certainly is more trouble, but the children gain a lot when they put a little of themselves into every gift. A few basics will make the process easier.
