Sheriff Larry Sherertz is forming a program by which his office can make sure that elderly people living alone are doing well. The program, which is yet to be named here, has been tried in other counties with considerable success.
Sherertz stresses that participation in the program is strictly confidential. Anyone who wishes to participate would fill out a form and specify a time by which they would call the Sheriff’s Office to say that they’re ok.
If the person does not call by the specified time, then the Sheriff’s Office will call that person. If there is no answer, a deputy will be sent to the residence to check on the individ
