4th of July

children’s

parade set

Children in the area are invited to “decorate their wheels” and join in the fun of the annual “Parade of Wheels” at the 4th of July celebration in the Town of Washington.

Wagons, wheelbarrows, skate boards, roller blades, bicycles, tricycles and strollers are all part of the festive parade this year.

Prizes will be awarded to those the judges consider “the most patriotically decorated.” The parade is open to children from birth to 14 years of age.

Lineup for the parade starts at 4 p.m. behind the jail. The parade starts at 4:30 p.m.

Father’s Day

concert slated

The Blue Ridge Arts Council and the County Warren will present a special Father’s Day concert on Sunday, June 20 on the stage of the Northern Virginia 4-H Center Amphitheater. Bringing the big band sounds of the 40’s and 50’s, the Starlight Octet from the Metropolitan Washington area will perform beginning at 7 p.m.

The Amphitheater concerts are sponsored through a grant with the Virginia Commission for the Arts and there is no admission charged. For more information on this and other events arid concerts presented by Blue Ridge Arts Council call 635-9909.
