Emery to speak at Library

Carla Emery, author of The Encyclopedia of Country Living, will speak at a free special public forum and intensive seminar on Saturday, June 19 at 9 a.m. at the Rappahannock County Public Library in Washington.

Carla Emery is a mother, speaker, and writer. Her publicly-acclaimed Encyclopedia of Country Living, is a basic reference work in the field of independent living and family food production (“goats and gardens”).

In print for 25 years, this old-fashioned how-to manual and recipe book now has some 400,000 copies in print. If you are interested in learning the homesteading, agricultural and animal husbandry skills that people knew 50 - 100 years ago, you will benefit from this program. * Summer camps scheduled

TASC for Teens of Jeffersonton is organizing and leading two 2-week Canadian Wilderness Fishing Summer Camps to beautiful Northern Ontario for youth ages 10-17 on July 17-30 and Aug. 7-20. The trips will leave from Jeffersonton and include qualified and caring staff, complete instruction, round-trip transportation, meals, most camping equipment, cabin lodging, and motorboat. Amissville beauties sought

Contestants are being sought for the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company’s Queen ages 14-20; Junior Miss ages 8-13 and Little Miss, ages 3-7 for this year’s carnival which will run from June 23-26. The winner will be determined by who sells the most tickets. The ladies will ride in the parade Thursday evening and the winner will be crowned Friday night. Basketball camp planned
