The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports that the Crop Moisture Index in our area (that is the short-term crop need vs. available water in the 5 foot soil profile) is measuring only slightly dry through the end of May, but the Drought Severity Index is moderate to severe, and the Three Month Historical Precipitation Percentage indicates that we’ve received 11-20 percent of normal rain.
