Local resident Steven Clark ranked third in the nation in a 1999 National Spanish Examination sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
Steven earned his third place national award by competing against other second year students whose native language is not Spanish and who have not lived abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.
The fifteen-year old student attends St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, where he just completed his tenth grade year with High Honors. He is the son of Jim and Elbe Clark of Washington.
