A CONFESSION
If a man or woman is committed to pursuing the truth over being right, he or she should have little trouble in confessing to being wrong. The pursuit of truth is a noble endeavor, while the compulsion to be right is a mere flight of ego. If anything, an admission of being wrong can elevate one's standing in the minds of others. As Jeremiah Seed once wrote: “Be not ashamed to confess that you have been in the wrong. It is but owning (taking responsibility for) what you need not be ashamed of that you now have more sense than you had before, to see your error, more humility to acknowledge it, more grace to correct it." How strange it is that when we are young we think being right is so important! As we get older, we discover that there are many right answers and being gracious is harder yet more rewarding than insisting on one’s own way.
