Several familiar faces will be missing when Rappahannock youngsters return to classrooms this fall, but each of the new retirees look forward to retirement and all have plans to keep busy. They include: Mrs. Catherine Brown, Alvin Atkins and Mrs. Arthlinda Quaintance, all of the Sperryville area.

When she is asked what she did over her summer vacation, Billielee Ballard will have an answer that is significantly different from most of her peers who have been going to camp or the beach or watching television during the summer between their ninth grade and tenth grade years in high school. She spent a month as a Christian missionary in Venezuela. After listening to five hours of testimony and comments at a hearing ' last Wednesday night, Washington’s Town Council approved the county’s plans for an addition to the jail. The county’s recycling center will soon accept tin cans, according to litter and recycling coordinator Nina Stainer. Residents are requested to remove the label from the cans and crush them to conserve space.
