ed that alcohol may have been involved in the traffic death of Christopher Thomas Hitt. This week, Virginia State Police reported that alcohol was a factor in that fatal crash.
Larcenies in county
Sometime on either June 22 or 23, a necklace was stolen from a residence on Seven Ponds Road in Amissville. The incident was reported on July 14. A cleaning service comes in on a regular basis and cleans the house, and the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office suspects there is a connection.
Sometime between July 12 and 15, a half-inch drill was taken from a residence in the 400 block of Viewtown Road. Two 50 foot extension cords were previously stolen from the same residence. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
Damage to property
A mailbox was knocked off its post on Long Mountain Road on or around July 17. The Sheriff’s Office has no leads at present.
On the same day, windows were reported broken in an abandoned house on Grindstone Lane in the Boston area. It is believed that some children may have thrown rocks into the windows.
