Hubert W. Gilkey, III of Flint Hill, Marvin G. Pence of Browntown and G. W. “Bill” Powers, Jr. of Front Royal were elected to the local Board of Directors at the Southern States Annual Membership Meeting of Southern States Front Royal Corp, Inc. held in Front Royal, on July 14. More than 37 stockholder-members and their families attended the session. ■ W. Dale Welch of Flint Hill, was elected chairman of the local Board of Directors, while Thomas A Megeath of Front Royal was named vice chairman.
. Elected as delegate to a District Election meeting to be held in Culpeper this fall, was Marvin G. Pence of Browntown.

James McCarron of Taneytown, Md, Southern States’ district manager, talked about the cooperative’s overall operations and gave a presentation based on the theme, “Let’s Grow Together.”
The report on local operations and services given to farmer members in the community was given by Ronald Barrett, II, manager of Southern States. He reported that total operating volume for £he past year was about
jj>2,600,000. His report included color slides showing Southern States facilities and services, as well as patrons’ farming operations.
The session also included a special recognition ceremony for the newly elected and retiring board members.
