Hunt Harris and his Ragged Mountain Resource Center (RMRC) was the recipient of an Honorable Mention in the, inaugural Virginia Watershed Award program. These awards are granted by the Virginia Department of Natural Resources in recognition of corporate and community excellence in watershed protection.
Each year, a corporation, at least three communities and one individual will be cited for “outstanding leadership, hard work and investment in conserving and enhancing Virginia’s water resources.”
The Ragged Mountain Resource Center’s Honorable Mention was bestowed as a result of the recommendations of county Administrator John McCarthy, Supervisor Bob Anderson, and Library Director David Shaffer. As Mr. McCarthy noted, “Under Mr. Harris’ direction, the center has provided a wide variety of outreach, training and data gathering, including stream monitoring, directing water quality workshops and managing stream bank restoration efforts and BMP implementation.”
Hunt’s RMRC is dedicated to educational and recreational activities in the Blue Ridge Mountain Bioregion, and it helps coordinate
