RMRC projects are diverse and ambitious, and include: the development of a “water monitoring network” in the upper tributaries of the Rappahannock River, which includes establishment of biological and chemical monitoring sites, stream bank restoration through riparian plantings and improved water access methods, and establishment of community-cooperative upper tributary “Committees” within the Network sub watersheds; tree planting and native plant species efforts; a “Speaker Series”; a key role in the “Trash Free Rappahannock” program; a “Second Saturday” series of guided hikes; and countess other environmentally-oriented good works.
RMRC, like many other non-profit organizations, can always benefit from the contribution of time and other resources and, judging from the recent Department of Natural Resources award, will return invaluable services to the community.
