The town ran into more problems when their computer did not have enough memory to run all of the new software. Therefore, a new computer will be purchased within the next week or two. The town is spending roughly $2000-$3000 to assure that there systems are Y2K compliant.
County government is in good shape for Y2K According to County Administrator John McCarthy, the county’s systems are 95 percent compliant. The remaining five percent consist of components that are not critical to system operation. They include such things as timers on rescue equipment and climate control or security systems. If they fail, those systems can be run manually.
McCarthy estimates that between money, time and effort, about $20,000 has been spent so far by the county. The low amount is due, at least in part,
to the fact that the county does not have many
