The RCHS expansion project, the balance of the architect’s contract, and funds allocated for Construction related testing amount to $3,118,300, while the construction bond balance as of 8/1/99 plus projected interest totals just over $3,033,000. With additional funds of almost $110,000 from last years unappropriated lottery monies, there will be just enough to cover the high school expansion, but not nearly enough to cover the new athletic fields.
Board member Ron Makela expressed concern that there will be no baseball fields, in Spite of Board Commitments. Superintendent David Gangel shared the concern, and suggested discussions with the Board of Supervisors to seek a solution. Board Chairman John Tole will attempt to set up a special Board-to-Board meeting in the near future so that an attempt can be made to resolve the athletic field issue while the bids are still valid.
