On Sept. 23, 1864 terror came to the small village of Front Royal, Va. On that day between 80 and 100 Rangers of Col. John S. Mosby’s 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry entered the town to disrupt the supply lines of General Sheridan’s Valley Army, who at that time were battling General Early’s Southern forces in the main Shenandoah Valley.
