Hundreds of small white squares, scribbled with the names of hopeful ticket stub holders, tumbled wildly as Nancy Garrett spun the handle of the raffle drum. After three months of sales and promotions, the winner of the coveted Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys game tickets would finally be announced at the drawing held Aug. 6 in the community room at the Hospice of the Rapidan office in Culpeper.
And the winner is...Donna Mosholder of Falls Church. Ms. Mosholder now has four tickets on the 40-yard line, nine rows behind the Redskins bench for the Sept. 12 game against Dallas, complete with a reserved parking space at the stadium.
Raffle ticket sales raised $4,445 for Hospice’s Benevolent Care Fund, an amount promptly doubled by a matching gift from Nancy Garrett and Ann Mattingly, who made the raffle possible in the first place by donating the tickets. “It’s unbelievably wonderful and generous,” exclaimed Pasty Tuffy, Executive Director of Hospice of the Rapidan. “The ladies have given so much, and this money is so badly needed!”
