apples harvested in August all the way through the arrival of Granny Smith and Fuji apples in late October, predictions are for an outstanding crop. Experts expect one of the largest crops in years. Apples should have good shape and excellent flavor. Because of abundant sunshine, Virginia apples will be sweeter than ever. Growers are anticipating an excellent 1999 apple crop overall.

Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Jonathan and Empire, Sept. 10-20.
