The dams within CSWCD were constructed with an intended 50-year life span. Because they are nearing the end of their expected life span, there is currently federal legislation being introduced that would create funding for a 60 percent federal cost-share program for the purpose of refurbishing these dams. Depending on the condition of a particular dam, refurbishing could include replacing primary and toe drains, improving primary and emergency spill ways, and removing excessive sediment.
