A new school year presents opportunities for various beginnings: new classes, new faces, sometimes new courses, and often new materials. Summer and vacations can be great healers. As we approach the opening day of a new school year, the end-ofyear pressures that plagued us in June seem quite remote and inconsequential.
You will not believe all the changes that have been made. One of the big changes is the addition of an eighth grade team that will serve the eighth graders totally separate from the rest of the high school students. They will have a different schedule and will eat lunch at a different time.
The eighth grade team will be made up of Jim Roszak and three new additions: Liz Purcell, Jenny Stanley, and Mike Weir. Other changes in our staff include Karen Ellis and Valerie Miller in the Business Department, Carlos Lopez and Alexandra Dewez-Bell in our Foreign Language Department; Melissa Delcour and Suzanne Rossin in our English Department, Robert Clark in the Special Education Department, and finally a new math teacher will replace Vicky Eastham, (to be named later).
Physical changes have occurred also. The Guidance Offices and the Administrative Offices have changed locations by switching in order to accommodate visitors better. Rooms one and 20 have been divided to take care of the eighth graders. The front area entering the building is being changed to have a better appearance.
The use of the RCHS “Assignment Notebook” has been enhanced and expanded by our School Improvement Committee. The assignment notebook will be provided to each student free of charge. We recommend against purchasing alternative assignment notebooks because use of the RCHS Assignment Notebook will be required in all classes, as a hall pass, and (new this year) as the “Resource Pass.”
