When asked why he wanted to serve on the BZA, Herrema noted that his experience could be useful. He added that having done a lot of work with zoning issues, “I’m very familiar with what zoning regulations are intended to do.” He has been on both sides of zoning, having made presentations to zoning boards and having had to determine how zoning laws apply.
