They see themselves as providing grass roots input for the county. Mr. Miller says “we want to cultivate the community.” They do not wish to compete with groups like the Ruritan or Amissville Fire Department. Rather, they wish to enhance and publicize efforts of those groups.
Some objectives of the Amissville community group include setting up a candidates forum for Jackson District candidates, and possibly even the candidates for Sheriff. The group wishes to stress that is non-partisan, non-political.
Organizing community events, and enhancement of business and beautification of the community are other goals. They have other items on their agenda. For instance, the Woodville Community Association recently challenged Amissville to a softball game.
