antennas and we were given very little information. Sprint has their mind made up about what they want for the County at the expense of the citizens. The County should tell Sprint what it will accept to best serve the citizens.
4. It has been said that these concrete silos would provide storage for com silage or shelled com. If you ask any dairy farmer in Virginia they will tell you that trench silos are more efficient and the only sensible way to go. The statement that these silos are for “farm use” is a phony issue. Even the farmers who want these silos are currently using trench silos for silage storage. In addition, the “silos” do not provide for colocation for other cell phone service carriers (i.e., Verizon, Cingular, Spectrum, Shenandoah Cellular, etc). In the future we would be sure to see more applications from other companies for cell towers in the county. Imagine this same rat race times four! Not only could Sprint sell “colocation rights” to any of these carriers in the future, the concrete silos would have to add ten foot in height for each additional carrier. The county would receive nothing for this obstruction to the viewshed.
