Corps, and Coast Guard, who earned their “Wings of Gold” between 1916 and 1947 and flew as enlisted pilots. Both were designated Aviation Pilot First Class (AP 1/c) upon completion of flight training and subsequently earned commissions as officers.
Mr. Schultz enlisted in the naval reserves August 1940, completed flight training October 1944 and retired as Commander,. USNR in July 1972.
Mr. Ziemer enlisted in November 1941, completed flight training January 1947 and retired as Lieutenant Commander, USN, October 1968.
