The Amissville Community was saddened last Monday afternoon, by the death of Mr. Graham Haeklev. The accident devastated our little village.
Mr. Hackley was the kindest, nicest, gentlest'man I have ever met in my entire 37 years. I had known him for only 20 years, unlike the many people in this community wrho had the pleasure of knowing him for a much longer period. I will miss seeing him every morning coming in the store for his papers and orange juice.
His daily jaunts in the Back door and to the front porch to see Jim Phillips, Lu Stringfellow, Acrey Dodson, Gilbert Lawrence, Walter Spicer, Adolph Estes, Jack Atkins, Farrell Nicholas, and his nephew, Brad will all be missed.
His trips to Front-Royal with, Ernest Lawson to take the cows to market, and to buy some new ones will forever remain in our minds.
We enjoyed watching him feed his animals; seeing him at the post office; his funny little laugh but most of all I will miss his presence, being with him made you feel a little at ease with life.
Mr. Hackley was the essence of Amissville, he was all that Amissville was and still tries to be. He was oldfashioned, old school and loveable. He was a quiet man, but full of life.
We will all miss him and our deepest heartfelt sympathy is extended to his wife Dorothy; son, Larry; daugh; ter, Janet and grandchild, 1 Josh. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all and with our community.
