Kenny receives
Artist Fellowship
The Virginia Commission for the Arts met recently and approved fellowships to visual artists of painting and works on paper. Rappahannock artist Steven Kenny and eight other artists from across the state received awards of up to $5,000 based upon the consistent quality of their work.
Mr. Kenny was one of five recipients of painting fellowships out of 102 applicants.
The purpose of the Individual Artist Fellowship program is to encourage significant development in the work of individual artists and in the medium in which they work, to support the realization of specific artistic ideas, and to recognize the central contribution professional artists make to the creative environment of our state.
The Commission makes available a limited number of fellowships to professional artists to support activities that will advance the art form or the careers of these artists. Funding in this category is highly competitive. Specific arts disciplines are eligible for support each year on a rotating basis.
