Amissville mainstay
Emmett Graham Hackley, 85, of Amissville died on Monday. Oct. 22 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
He was bom Sept. 30. 1916 in the home in Amissville that remained his residence all of his life. He was the son of the late Lewis Erwin and Rosalie Dowdell Hackley.
Mr. Hackley owned and operated Hackley's Store in Amissville for 57 years - a business begun bv his father in 1906.
His wife, Dorothy Zinn Hackley worked with him for 44 of those years in the business. His quiet demeanor and quick wit endeared him to many.
He was active in the community throughout his lifetime. He had been a member of the Amissville United Methodist Church for 74 years holding various offices. He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge #78 for over 50 years.
