Rappahannock Angus Breeder’s Calf Sale held Tuesday of this week at Front Royal Livestock Market was reported by C.T. Barnes of the Division of Markets as the best in Virginia to date. A total of 1357 head consigned by 41 producers brought $171,504.13.
C.E. “Ned” Johnson Jr., beef cattleman and orchardist from Sperryville has been selected as Conservationist of the Year in Rappahannock County by the Culpeper Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors. General Daniel Noce of Laurel Hill, who is vice chairman of the district, presented the award to Mr. Johnson. General Noce also was speaker of the evening and basec) his talk on his experiences as an engineer in the U.S. Army where he worked with such projects as the Tennessee Valley.
