LFCC to host
exhibition
Lord Fairfax Community College’s Fauquier Campus will host an art exhibition and opening of original oil paintings by artist Barbara Heile Sherwood. The exhibit, entitled “Close to Home” will open on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend the reception, where refreshments will be served and the artist will be present to discuss her latest work.
Flea market set
for benefit walk
Teams for the 2003 Relay for Life Cancer Walk will hold a flea market at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ail proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Call Michelle Kaye at 675-3157 if you and your team would be interested in setting up a table to get a head start on this yearly event.
Methodist to host
holiday bazaar
The Amissville United Methodist Women will sponsor their annual holiday bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the church social hall.
Featured will be Christmas ornaments and crafts, home/kitchen items, baked goods, fresh Georgia pecans, and a white elephant table. Special this year will be a hand-pieced, handquilted flower garden quilt and a handmade, blue ribbon prizewinning Raggedy Ann up for silent bid.
Delicious lunch items including soups, chili, sandwiches and desserts will be served. Amissville United Methodist Church is located on US 211 in Amissville.
