Girls’ basketball

The varsity girls’ basketball team dropped two games for the week losing to Clarke County 60-25 and to Madison County 57-25. Their season record now stands at 0-12 on the season. Brittany Thornhill had 11 points and Mattie Nawrocki had eight in the loss to the Eagles. The undefeated Lady Mountaineers were too much for the Panthers as they jumped out to a 30-4 lead and coasted to the win.

The junior varsity girls’ basketball team lost both games for the week. They dropped a 28-24 game to Clarke County and a 24-23 decision to Madison.

The Little Lady Panthers had the fourth quarter lead in both games but were unable to get a win in either game. The team led Clarke by four entering the fourth quarter but the Eagles turned up the pressure to pull out the win. The team led Madison 23-20 with two minutes remaining in the game but Madison made four of six free throws over the remainder of the game, the last two coming with three seconds left, to pin the defeat on the Panthers.

The team record now stands at 4-8 on the season.
