Michael Fairbrother represented Rappahannock County High School at the state single A golf tournament on Oct. 7 and 8 at the Tartan Golf Course in Kilmarnock, Va. Michael had a two-day total of 176, 86 on the first day and 90 on the second, to finish tied for 39th in the state.
Diana Meza from Goochland High School was the low medalist with a twoday total of 151. The appearance by Michael in the state tournament capped a very successful second season for the golf team. Congratulations to the team for a great season.
Cross country
The cross-country team edged Clarke County 27-28 to even their season record at 55. Ethan Berry and John Letsen finished tied for second in the race and Kevin Martin had a strong fourth place finish while Brain Brown finished eighth.
The key runner for the Panthers was Jonathan Robinson who was able to maintain a comfortable margin over the eleventh place runner from Clarice to provide the team with its one-point margin of victory.
