Among Ki Theatre’s various community arts programs, few are more popular and inspiring than the annual production of No Ordinary Person. A highly popular theatrical production opening its seventh year on Saturday, Nov. 2, this unique showcase of local talent has its roots in Julie Portman’s well-known “Life Stories Workshops.”
Using storytelling as a catalyst for creative communication, talented members of our community share their always entertaining autobiographical stories on stage to a larger audience.
This year’s program begins with “Forty Steps Back” by Phel Jacobsen, wife of Bob Jacobsen, who was Superintendent of the Shenandoah National Park from 1972 to 1986. Ms. Jacobsen recalls the early days of their national park service together when, 40 years ago, she was the young wife of a park ranger and the mother of two small children. Life was a struggle for the young family as they coped with love and laughter in the rain forest of Olympic National Park.
