During an assembly held Oct. 20 in the Wakefield Country Day School auditorium, Allison Russo and Alex Shafran, both Rappahannock County students, were honored as “Athletes of the Month” for September.
Allison Russo, a junior from Flint Hill, excelled on the varsity volleyball team this season. Not only did she lead the team in digs, she also was a vital component in the Owls’ late season, three-game winning streak, with her tremendous hustle and determination.
In addition to her athletic prowess, Allison has also been a consistent first-honors student. This season, she was also chosen to the Honorable Mention team of the Delaney Athletic Conference. - Alex Shafran, a freshman from Viewtown, led the Owls’ varsity soccer team this past season with 18 goals, and was given Second-Team status on the Delaney Athletic Confer
