George
Washington film
Maxwell said he will be shooting a short film about George Washington in the area in late January. The 15minute film will be shown at Mount Vernon’s new visitor center set to open near the end of 2006.
Maxwell said the preserved land in and around Rappahannock still looked much like it did in Washington’s day and that Virginia’s Yorktown would stand in for New Jersey’s Trenton in the film.
“Come on by if you want to put on a uniform and carry a musket,” Maxwell said.
Rappahannock resident Jim Gannon, author of “Irish Rebels, Confederate Tigers: The 6th Louisiana Volunteers, 1861-1865,” acted as emcee for the evening.
