Four years ago I asked
Rappahannock News’ readers to consider George Bush’s record (remember, “The Record, the Record, the Record”) before casting a vote for president. A neighbor weighed in a week later, explaining that all of the abysmal progress of Texas under George Bush’s six years as governor was due to the Democrats who controlled the Texas legislature.
So here we are four years later—another abysmal record.
• The boast from George Bush that he is a uniter, not a divider, is painful for all of us to consider.
• The Social Security trust fund has been emptied by $507 billion.
• Medicare has been cut by 17 percent.
• After terrifying us into believing that we had to quickly wage war with Iraq to insure weapons of mass destruction were not used against America, we have found out that this was completely unfounded. The president spent $1,200,000,000 for 1,500 highly trained professionals to work for 18 months to look for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq—yet not one shred of evidence was found to support his claims.
