Hosted by Reisler, Song Camp attracts songwriters at all levels from across the country. During the weekend of workshops, participants learn writing techniques, gain inspiration, hone their skills, and share in the fellowship of a community of songwriters.
“People love to write songs,” says Reisler. “Kids dream of being rock stars. Adults yearn for the freedom to express themselves creatively. That’s what makes song camp so popular. It helps people tie into their dreams.”
Vezner and Jonas, both songwriters as well as performers, will also be guest instructors for the Song Camp. Classes run all day Saturday and Sunday with a student showcase Saturday night at Ki Theatre. There will be classes for people of any level from beginner to professional songwriters in all aspects of songwriting as well as performance workshops with playwright/ actress/director Julie Portman. There will also be critique sessions in which students can perform their work.
The $195 registration fee includes the Friday night concert, Saturday and Sunday workshops, and Saturday evening student showcase. To register or for more information, call Ki Theatre, 9873164 or e-mail songcamp® paulreisler.com. The weekend is sponsored by Ki Theatre with the support of Oasis CD Duplication, Songwriters Association of Washington and the ASCAP Foundation.
