The Rappahannock News' endorsement for president is published in this issue, a week before the election which, unfortunately, gives no time for readers to reply. In an effort to be balanced, we invited one of our readers to write an opposing view.
If the presidential election of 2004 were like past elections, it might be easy to make a persuasive case for electing a new president. Americans are beset by enough problems to spell political defeat for an incumbent: an economy that has lost jobs on his watch, high gas prices, increasing healthcare problems, a foreign war costing American lives, and more.
