Beau‘tree’ful memories The Trinity Church parking lot—also known as the town square—was once a hubbub of activity housing a gas station, a sandwich shop and a repair garage turned antique shop. Many years ago, as those businesses and buildings faded, Trinity bought the lot for parking. For some time, it was part gravel and part concrete foundation. In 1979, the Episcopal Church Women under the leadership of Marie Kilpatrick took on paving and landscaping the parking lot. This included the planting of a beautiful Bradford pear tree. Sadly, that tree reached the limit of its years this fall. It was much older than Bradfords generally live, had been irreparably damaged by the summer’s storms, and had become dangerous. Now the Bradford has been removed, and with the Inn at Little Washington's assistance, a new Japanese Zelcova put in its place. The new planting was blessed by Rev. Jennings Hobson III on Sunday.
