When Barbara Adolfi of Sperryville decided to invest in her retirement, she bought a house just off Main Street to fix up and turn into rental property.

That was before she found plumbing problems and encountered frozen pipes in the house. Watching her hopes for a quick turnaround profit literally go down the drain, she realized that she would never be able to recoup her investment by using the house solely as a rental property.

Then a friend planted an idea in her head when she asked if family could rent the house for just a week during an upcoming wedding festivity. Thus, a guest house was in the making.
