When L. E. Hackley built a country store in Amissville in 1903, he probably did not think of what the store would be a century later.
However, his name lives on high on the front of the building he constructed, not much different than it was when he began his own business venture. In fact, the store remains in the Hackley family, even to this day with Brad Nicholas currently owning the establishment.
L.E. Hackley ran the store until September of 1934 when his son and laughter-in-law, Graham and Dorothy Hackley took over, followed by their daughter and her husband, Janet and Ron Makela running
