The folks without any water at all, as well as the folks with the “bad” water from wells would like to see the spring come back. The problem seems to be that since the spring was used jointly by several families, there is no one person responsible for getting it working again.
One resident suggested that VDOT may have inadvertently played a role in the problems with the spring. She said that cracks in the pipe were causing the road to flood where the bridge comes in toward the comer store and that VDOT decided not to cap it off which she believes was so as not to have to accept responsibility for its maintenance. Instead VDOT moved ,the pipe to drain away from the road. She explained that the pipe operated by gravity, and wondered if VDOT’s actions could have caused the loss of the spring water or if it was merely a coincidence.
Regardless of what created the problem, there are still residents who are unable to get any water and others who feel as if they traded good “free” water for bad.
