Besides tne sijcea aeu meats and cheeses, one'of the biggest seDers in the deli is Hackle/s barbeque sandwiches and Hershe/s hand-dipped ice cream.

Edna Blanton of Warrenton travels to Amissville two to three times each week just for the ice cream.

“I came here one time with a senior citizen group and found out about the ice cream,” Blanton said laughing, “and now I have to come back every week for more. The girls are nice, too.”

While there, she enjoyed a cup of deep dish apple pie ice cream.

According to Nicholas, many of the youth ball teams come in after a game, excitedly waiting for their after-game treat of an ice cream cone.

“One Saturday a lady heard we had run out of cones, so she brought her own box and treated the kids. That is the kind of community store this is,” added Nicholas.
