Private sewage

The board heard several members of the Chester Gap community who came to speak against a private sewage treatment facility request by Tbny Williams for a new construction in the village.
Charles K “Pete” Estes, chairman of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors advised that in his experience with the wastewater treatment facility in Sperryville, monitoring of such a facility needs to be done at least twice daily, seven days a week.
“I can see trouble with this,” Estes said.
The board voted unanimously to continue the public hearing until next month’s regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting since the applicant could not be present for Monday’s meeting.
The board also heard a request by David Gillis of the Stonewall-Hawthome District to expand an existing six-room assisted living care facility to an eight-room facility. With hmited discussion among board members, a unanimous roll-call vote approved Gillis’ application.
