In addition to naming the new ball diamond, PSA president Mauri Payne, presented on behalf of the league, a plaque to William and Mary Payne, owners of the field, thanking them for the use of the land on which the park is built.
Also as part of the celebration, a plaque, which now hangs on the outfield fence, was presented to PSA’s Nikita Long, honoring her as Ladybug Park’s first true home run hitter.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, PSA vice-president David Sheffield displayed the new Ladybug Park flag, taking its place beneath the field’s American flag.
Following the ceremony, a double-header between Page and PSA was played; both games were won by the Piedmont 18 and under team, Odyssey. Odyssey is sponsored by the Rappahannock Lions Club.
