Clarinetist Kenny Davem is featured among the five outstanding musicians from “The Statesmen of Jazz” who will play at the Theatre at Washington, Virginia on Saturday, October 29 in a concert beginning at 8 p.m.
The group comprises in addition to Kenny, James Chirillo on guitar, Tbny DeNicola on drums, Rufus Reid on bass, and Richard Wyands on piano.
The “Statesmen of Jazz” was established in 1994, initially with the sponsorship of the American Federation of Jazz Societies, “to utilize the skills of master musicians . . . whose creative achievements have contributed to the ever-evolving new horizons of jazz. All of the Statesmen are musicians who have outstanding careers in music, are able to perform brilliantly and who have a keen interest in perpetuating jazz traditions through their performances at concerts . . . .” Each performance by the Statesmen is an ensemble drawn from the pool of
