Troubled times

As if this country hasn't been rocked by enough hurricanes

this year, Hurricane Wilma is now threatening

the Florida coastline. Hurricane Katrina may not be making the headlines that captured our attention a few weeks ago, but the victims are most certainly still reeling from the devastation. The Rappahannock News has reported on several local efforts to help and will continue in that coverage. While possibly overshadowed by current events, the Thailand Tsunami Relief Organization is sponsoring an afternoon of food, music and dance from Thailand on Sunday afternoon at Trinity Episcopal Church. They have an “adopted village” near Phuket and through their efforts those villagers are enjoying a chance at a better life. While today's headlines are often tomorrow’s history, we need to keep all of these people in our hearts, minds and pocketbooks.
