Virginia's Attorney General says that “domestic violence is one of the most destructive, yet preventable crimes our society faces ...we must do all we can to protect those who face violence in their homes, at the hands of their own loved ones.” Virginia has set up a series of programs throughout the Commonwealth to deliver a variety of programs to assist victims of domestic violence and their children. These programs offer services 24 hours a day at no cost to the victim.
A great as these programs are, they pant do it alone. Only by spealdng out and offering our assistance can we hope to make a difference. Often victims of domestic violence feel frightened and alone. All of us can help by simply reaching out a hand and offering our assistance. Together we can make a difference. Together we can hope to put an end to this epidemic. If you think a friend or loved one is being abused, talk to them about it. Listen to them. Let them know you care.
