On April 21 the Rappahannock County School Board granted approval to the County to make the above improvements to school property. The Board also approved Chappell putting just the track portion of the work out for sealed bids by April 18. The schools plan to use approximately $90,000 of the interest earned on the $4 million loan to pay for the track, but will also need the $60,000 from the Ann Spieker Foundation in order to pay the anticipated cost for the track of approximately $150,000. The asphalt track will be coated with a layer of “latex bound track surface containing black rubber particles bound together with fortified latex binder” to help protect legs of students running on the track.
