family, including eight other siblings, are immensely proud of “baby sister” and all have gone to see her plays. Johanna returns home to “beautiful Rappahannock County” whenever she can slip away from her work as an actor—even when she is in New York where she currently lives.
Asked how she compares this play to others in her career, Day offered this insight into her work: “All of the plays I’ve been in have been rewarding experiences. What was important to me in this play was to take a role equivalent to “Hamlet for women” and do it right. In addition, there was ‘perfect chemistiy between the actors and the director. As this creative interaction developed, The Rainmaker became one of my favorite plays.”
