The children can also tell their stories and writing assignments to the voice memo and later they can play these back and type them using the keyboards.
“The greatest sense of accomplishment that I have seen with the Palm Pilots is when a child who had previously struggled with language arts class was able to type a short report and the result was one of the best in the class,” added Shankle.
“We would love to have many more PDA’s to allow students to use them for homework assignments,” continued Shankle who added that The RCPS proposed budget for 2006-2007 includes more Palm Pilots for 3rd Grade.
“I even can imagine the day when all tests can be taken using a PDA and Scantron software. Test results will be beamed to the teacher’s palm and entered into the grade book. We’re just beginning,” concluded Shankle.
